Mónica Girón born in 1959 in San Calos de Bariloche, Argentina
Lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Diploma in Knowledge of art and 3D Expression at École Supérieure d’Art Visuel, 1984, Geneva, Switzerland. Lives and works in Buenos Aires since 1985.
New World Foundation first prize for young painters, 1992, the National Fine Arts Museum in Buenos Aires, Deutsche Bank painting prize in 1993, the Modern Art Museum of Buenos Aires. Participated in IASPIS the 2005 International Artists Studio Program in Stockholm, Sweden, RIAA (International Art Residency for Artists in Argentina) 2008, the Barracas Grant–Fundación Antorchas 1994-1995.
Currently teaching at Artists Program at Torcuato di Tella University. Directed seminar at Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, 2011, in Resistencia Chaco, Argentina. Visiting artist activities at the Fine Arts Academy, Helsinki, 2007, at the Fine Arts Academy in Bergen, Norway from 1997 to 2007. At Ruth Viegener’s studio in Bariloche, Patagonia, from 1992 to 2001, and for Fundación Antorchas Grants for the provinces program in Posadas, Misiones, during 1999. Study program in her studio in Buenos Aires, 1991 to 2004.
